People Styles at Work, by Robert Bolton and Dorothy Grover Bolton, states that a person normally has about a 50% likelihood of assessing his or her own style correctly. A significant aspect of understanding behavior styles is to understand how you are perceived by others. People respond to us based more on what we do rather than who we are. Therefore it's crucial to get their feedback and understand their perspective. In fact, it is probably more practical to have others assess us than for us to assess ourselves.
